Getting Here & Unloading
You are welcome to arrive and go to your site any time after 3pm on your check in date. Check out is before 11am on your departure date.
Where do I park and how do I get to my campsite? The main trailhead and campground parking lot is located at 37085 W Bresette Hill Rd. Bayfield, WI 54814. From there, the hike to the sites is about 200 to 400 meters. You will hike through a beautiful valley that requires moderate mobility and ballance, as there are two steep sections with high steps. Take your time and be careful! Backpacks are highly recommended for carrying your luggage. All paths are just a loop around the campground so if you are on a trail you will not be lost. You will see the two tent sites first. The cabin is in the back of the property next to the creek.
I have a lot of heavy gear. Is there an easier way to unload? Yes! If you have mobility concerns or simply a lot of gear to haul, we have an unloading shortcut.
- Pull into the next driveway up the hill at our house (36985).
- Pull straight into the parking lot and look for the ATV service trail access in the back right corner of the yard.
- This path avoids the valley and is much better for carts or wagons if that is your plan.
- Once you pack in your gear, please move your vehicle back to the main campground lot so you can enjoy the hiking aspect of the trail during your stay!
Site Amenities & Power
What are the bathroom and water facilities? There is a porta potty set up near each site, as well as an outdoor utility sink at the site. The water is safe to drink. There is a shared outdoor shower for the three sites we call it the “Tree Shower” as it is at the base of a white pine that is likely over 200 years old. There is hot water but please give it a good minute or two to warm up. For longer stays we recommend you check out the rec center in town. For a $10 day pass the pool, showers, sauna & more can be a nice camping reset.
Is their electricity at the site? Yes, but it is limited. There is a power strip at each site equipped with standard outlets, USB, and USB-C plugs. This is perfect for recharging phones and running the outdoor bistro lights, but it does not have enough amps to run heaters or heavy electronics (anything drawing over 10 amps).
What is the lighting like at night? We have you covered with a few options! Each site has a full string of bistro lights which gives the sites a cozy warm glow at night. There is an assortment of solar lights and battery-powered lanterns as well. Feel free to bring a headlamp or have your phone flashlight ride to go if hike in or out at night.
Can I have a campfire? Is firewood available? Absolutely. Getting a campfire going is what camping is all about! Firewood is available for $1 a log or equivalent of smaller combined pieces. All on the honor system (cash or Venmo). You can pick it up yourself at the little woodshed in the center of the campground. We highly recommend bringing your own fire starters. You are welcome to bring your own wood if you like but keep in mind the hike in element of the site.
Cooking & Wildlife
Can I cook and store food in the cabin? No. For your safety, it is a strict rule not to cook, eat, or keep food inside the cabin. The Apostle Islands region is known for having a high concentration of black bears. We must keep a clean campground, so please leave all extra food securely in your vehicle and only take what you need down to the site for the day.
What cooking equipment is provided? We provide grills that fit over the open campfire and a single-burner camp stove. If you have a specific meal in mind, it is best to bring your own pots, dishes, and utensils. We do not supply the fuel. The Drifter and Anchor camp stoves take 8 oz Butane Gas Cartridges and the Crow’s Nest stove takes the Standard 1lb green Propane Cylinder. These are available at most stores including our local hardware store.
Packing & Preparation
What bedding is provided, and what should I bring? We provide a bottom sheet, a throw blanket, and two pillows. You will need to bring your own preferred bedding, blanket or sleeping bag. The temperature can fluctuate, so we highly recommend packing extra layers or checking the forecast before your trip!
What kind of footwear should I bring? If it rains before or during your stay, the ground in the valley and on the trails can become soft in some spots. Sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes are highly recommended.
Are there hiking trails on the property? Yes! We have 5 acres for you to explore. We are still working on refining the trails, but they are coming along nicely. Please stay on or close to the paths and respect our neighbors’ property lines.

How do I contact you if I need something during my stay? You can text 414-629-2085 and we will do our best to answer your questions or help you if we can. I may be out on a sailing charter, but we will get back to you as soon as possible!
What if there is an emergency? There is an emergency action list located inside the cabin for your reference. We are also only two miles away from the town of Bayfield, which has additional resources and services if needed.
